A weekend with room in it: Port Townsend

Build a short trip around one place you want to explore. Fort Worden, at the edge of Port Townsend, brings beach, forest, history, and creative events into one area.

Day one: arrive and look around

Choose a walk or beach visit at Fort Worden Historical State Park. The official park page describes shoreline, trails, museums, and arts programming. Pick one, then leave time to wander Port Townsend at your own pace.

Day two: follow a curiosity

Spend the morning at a museum, a workshop, or another park activity if one fits your dates. Or take a notebook and use the morning to sketch, read, or plan a project inspired by the trip. You do not have to turn a weekend into a checklist.

Before booking

Check current park alerts, access, fees, events, and lodging directly with the park and the places you intend to visit. Availability changes. You can use Recreation.gov’s Trip Builder for other public-land trip ideas and reservations.

Bring it home

Choose one detail from the weekend—a color, a view, a conversation, a new skill—and give it a place in your next project or ordinary week.

I hope this finds you well,

Scott
